How It Works:
SLABLOC® is a high-performance penetrating slab edge moisture barrier specifically developed and field-tested to protect concrete slab edges and exposed concrete surfaces from long-term moisture ingress. Unlike surface coatings or membranes that rely on an intact surface film, SLABLOC penetrates up to 30 mm into the concrete capillary matrix where it chemically reacts with the cementitious components to form a permanent capillary-blocking structure that becomes an integral part of the concrete for the life of the structure.
By permanently modifying the concrete’s internal capillary network, SLABLOC significantly reduces the ability of liquid water to be drawn into and through the concrete by capillary action. This interrupts the primary mechanism responsible for moisture migration through exposed slab edges, limiting the movement of water and the dissolved salts it carries. As a result, SLABLOC helps prevent rising damp, efflorescence, salt attack, mould growth, reinforcement corrosion, moisture damage to wall frames and internal finishes, and the premature deterioration of surrounding building materials.
In addition to its deep penetrating capillary-blocking action, SLABLOC incorporates advanced hydrophobic technology that creates a water-repellent zone within the treated concrete. This dual-action protection not only restricts capillary moisture movement but also actively repels liquid water from the slab surface while remaining breathable to water vapour, allowing the concrete to dry naturally.
SLABLOC is a water-based, non-toxic, non-flammable and low-odour treatment that is safe to apply on active construction sites. It is installed using a simple two-coat wet-on-wet application with a low-pressure knapsack or pump sprayer, allowing the treatment to penetrate deep into the concrete before curing. A temporary blue application indicator provides installers and builders with clear visual confirmation of coverage before gradually disappearing as the product weathers, leaving no permanent change to the appearance of the concrete.

When to Apply:
SLABLOC® is ideally applied to concrete slab edges the day after the concrete is poured, or as soon as the formwork has been removed. Early application allows the active ingredients to penetrate deeply into the concrete while the capillary network is still open, creating a permanent internal moisture barrier before the slab edge is exposed to long-term weathering. Unlike traditional membranes or coatings, there is no curing delay or waiting period required, allowing application to fit seamlessly into the construction schedule. The product can be applied by your preferred pest management contractor using a standard low-pressure sprayer, making it a simple addition to the termite treatment process without delaying the build.
